ISOFORM

Isoform is dedicated to the design, development and manufacture of isostatic pressing equipment. Its founder, Ken Morris, was an acknowledged authority on isostatic techniques and designed his first dry bag press under his own name in the late ’70s, in response to a need for a versatile machine capable of producing accurate and consistant products at reasonable cost and adequate production rates.

From this machine has developed the present DB1 range which is still in use across the world today.

Now under the leadership of precision engineer Huw Lewis, under the umbrella of the larger B.S.B. family, we are providing new products and parts for customers worldwide. Isoform prides itself on its flexibility and will gladly produce individual presses to suit customers needs.

The Dry Bag Principal

Isoform developed the DB1 Dry Bag Press in the 1970s to transform powdered materials into finished products of unique consistency, density and shape.

The DB1 press converts powdered materials into compacts, pre-forms, or even finished products of extremely uniform and consistent density and shape. Where necessary, components can then be ‘green machined’ before firing without the risk of distortion associated with mechanical pressing.

Because dry bag presses can handle many different shapes and materials, an enormous range of products can be produced with the technique, including items as diverse as lighting tubes, nozzles, sparking plugs, and internal ICE engine components. Useable powders include ceramic, ferrite, tungsten carbide, copper, titanium, steel, refractory materials, etc.

The DB features a two-bag system: an outer bag to permanently seal the fluid into the pressure vessel and an inner one to form the powder cavity or tool. This makes tool changing easy and prevents the fluid becoming contaminated with powder. Filling and ejection take place with the pressure vessel swung clear of the frame. Ejection is from the bottom, allowing easy cleaning and complete debris removal.
